    About the Author

    Vallath has more than 26 years of IT experience including over 20 years using Oracle products. Vallath is an Oracle ACE Director and president of All India Oracle Users Group (www.aioug.org). He has worked on a variety of database platforms for small to very large implementations, designing databases for high volume, machine critical, real time OLTP systems. His expertise is with Oracle RAC. Vallath released his second book titled Oracle 10g RAC, Grid, Services and Clustering in March 2006 and has co-authored his third book titled Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) November 2007, from Oracle Press. Vallath currently provides independent consulting services in the areas of capacity planning, high availability solutions and performance tuning of Oracle environments through Summersky Enterprises (www.summersky.biz) with operations in USA and India. He has successfully completed over 100 successful small, medium and terabyte sized RAC implementations for reputed corporate firms.     I am a retired Museum Curator and I am glad to finally see someone putting a book of this nature out for public review. Unfortunately, so many of us in academia have our hands tied if we wish to keep our positions. This book should be required reading in our institutions. Hopefully, the information that can be found in this book can one day be expounded up.

    I must say that when I first began to listen to Mr. Butler via blog talk radio shows I was excited. I was still not sure to accept it though because no one else that I know of is saying the exact same things. I finally bought "When Rocks Cry Out", and was amazed. I recommend this book for anyone, even if you are not 100% in agreement with all of Mr. Butler's conclusions. I support him and his work anyway. We need more African centered or African American scholars writing books and sharing their wisdom with us. Mr. Butler actually brings to you, from his 12 or more years of research, works that have been available for years. He brings a fresh new perspective via helping you understand that the bible and information about Egypt was redirected to make us think that it was referring to something and someone else. He has some ancient maps that unfortunately are not in the book but can be found with a little effort, such as the Waldseemuller Map, the Puttinger Map can help and others.The author starts from the standpoint of the Spanish Exploration of the Americas. The author then labors to show you that the biblical events took place in the Americas which is why much, if anything, has not been found in modern day Palestine. He shows us an article excerpt from Margreet Steiner entitled, "It's Not There", in regards to Jerusalem being in Palestine. She, along with scholars such as Thomas L. Thompson, Philip R. Davies, Niels Peter Lemche, and even Israel Finkelstein (to some extent), will help you understand that "Palestine" as we know it today, is not adding up to the archaeological record as we may have heard. The author also states that Egypt began in the West as early as 23,000 years before Alexander the Great and that the monuments over in the Egypt at the east of Africa are actually talking about events that took place in the Egypt of the west which is the Americas (Mexico, Central America, and South America). I don't want to spoil it for you, but if you do your homework, you will find this to be so. He describes the biblical Exodus as really an African civil war where the Africans called Hebrews were taking the Africans called Egyptian cities in the Americas. He shows you the "real" route of the Exodus, which is why there is a scholarly consensus, currently, that the Exodus never happened. Some of the Africans called Egyptians eventually after the Exodus, and escaped to the East side of Africa to build that second Egypt as we know it today. The Africans called Egyptians eventually came back to the Americas to take back their city-states that they had lossed. So, the author, takes the position that the ancestors sailed from Africa, to come to the Americas and establish the empire that became known as Egypt, and some of them later went to the Northeastern side of Africa to establish the Egypt of the East. Scholars, preachers, and even some Afro-centric scholars ran from him while not confirming his discoveries. To date, no one has been able to refute them either. Later, I began to understand why he began to stand alone. The rocks were crying out what happened and where those things happened. Just because he was left by others, doesn't make him wrong. Please test his material. Well worth it.Some of the authorities that were used in the writing of this book includes Heinrich Brugsch-Bey, James Henry Breasted, Sir Ernest Alfred Thompson Wallis Budge, and Adolf Erman (Egyptologists. Some of the ancient historians that were used in the writing of this book include Flavius Josephus and Herodotus. He uses very good Spanish sources, especially some hard to find, but with effort they are obtainable. He also used Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, and Basil Davidson. What if it is indeed true that the biblical events took place in a completely different landscape and area? What if, through clever ploys, the so called "Middle East" today is a modern creation which was hyped up by various people to keep you from finding out that these phantom places didn't exist in the ancient world? What if the "real" names and places and events happened primarily in Central and South America? I think that the author does an excellent job of demonstrating such. I recommend that you not just read this book, but study it by checking the sources, regardless of how long it takes you to not only find them, but also read them. The ancient records that he speak of will indeed show you that he is right.I do hope that he continues writing books by placing the further information that he spoke of on the blog talk radio shows. You can listen to his online radio interview appearances via jeditalkradio, know the ledge, occult science radio, which are all shows that you can connect to by scrolling through the archives via blogtalkradio. This little book, is so full of information, that you must study when reading it. Get the sources, check his information, test it. After reading this book, I had to put others' works down. He will change the way you see the past.

    This is the most important book written in quite some time. Whereas some would have us stop, and cease learning about our true history with decades old works, Mr. Butler in this work has followed Dr. John Henrik Clark's advice that the student's job is to find the errors and omissions, whether intentional or unintentional, that the previous generation of teachers committed and correct them. This book will be a treasure for many years to come. Whether you are a Christian, a Muslim, a Moor, a Kemet head, or anything else, this book is for you as it finally brings the evidence that connects all these ancient cultures and texts together. Finally I will say that anybody who claims this book is not cited either has not read the book in full, has an alternate agenda, or is just stupid and doesn't know where the reference section of a book is. All of his sources can be found and read for yourself, and I recommend you do, as that will only bring further clarity to his discoveries. Many are even available for free online as they are old books in the public domain. Thank you for what you have done for my children's future Mr. Butler!

    Pretty Amazing! To think a lot of the biblical events could have happened in the AMERICA'S? I won't lie and say im 100% convinced. He had some strong points in the beginning, weaker points in the middle and then strong again towards the end. I thought the part about Pyramids with steps on the outside being in America was a good point. If the Egyptian text is speaking of Pyramids with steps and there are no pyramids with steps in Egypt it's safe to say they were speaking of the pyramids in the America. So that was a solid argument. But when he starts pointing to places mentioned in the bible and comparing them to place in south America because they kind of sound like each other, im less convinced. But overall this is a lot of food for thought and Ive already gotten some books from the library to try to find more information for myself. Also the book is really easy to read which makes it that much more useful for research!

    This book has left me wanting more. I felt like the author just skimmed the surface of compiling "mentionings" of all the research he seems to have done over the past two decades to give us his personal experiences during the research and the reactions he received from a plethora of people. The whole premise makes sense and I would love to see a volume or two filled with the actual research and not just the mentioning of what was found. Overall I think that it is a good beginning to tying together all the missing pieces of our past, those of us who are the lost tribes of the Hebrews. I could envision easily another book of sizable length detailing the findings, irrespective of his lack of "PhD" letters behind his name. He has done enough work towards this one volume to merit a PhD, however. As such, I would urge him to write the book he really wanted to write as I am sure the right publisher is just waiting to take him to the next level.Update: Upon a 2nd reading, I find that there is so much information of which I had not taken notice during my first read. HB has a nice way of giving lots of interpretive info concisely. This time around I took notes which made all the difference by slowing down to contemplate between chapters. Highly recommended study and reference.

This 12th edition of Introductory Foods has been written and revised to give beginning college students an understanding of the basic fundamental principles of food preparation and to alert them to many innovations in science and technology related to foods. It is designed to be used in a first course in food preparation.

    The organization of chapters in the book has changed from the 11th edition. The first four chapters contain introductory material about food choices, sensory analysis, economics, food safety, and regulations. The next five chapters provide a foundation in the principles of cooking. These first nine chapters contain basic principles that the student may refer to throughout the entire course. The brief discussion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in Chapter 9 may be used as a review for students who have had chemistry courses or as an introduction for those who have not studied chemistry. The remaining chapters are divided into eight sections: Fats, Frying, and Emulsions; Sweeteners, Crystalization, Starch, and Cereal Grains; Bakery Products; Vegetables, Fruits, and Salads; Dairy Products and Eggs; Meat, Poultry and Seafood; Beverages; and Food Preservation. The chapters in this book are independent, in that you may choose to present them in any order that best fits the structure of your own course. Cross-references to other chapters are indicated periodically in the written text.

    This edition has been substantially updated to cover many recent developments in food safety and regulation, food consumption data, biotechnology, technological innovations in food processing and the discussion of new food products. Over 400 new references have been added throughout the text to provide students with current information in food technology, consumer trends, and scientific findings.     James H. Overfield, Professor Emeritus at the University of Vermont, received his BA from Dension University, his MA from the University of Chicago, and his PhD from Princeton University.     About the Author

    Ivan Brunetti has published several graphic novels and taught courses on editorial illustration and comics at the University of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago. His drawings have appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine, and McSweeney's, among other publications, and he served as editor for Yale University Press's two-volume Anthology of Graphic Fiction, Cartoons, and True Stories.

    As a way of jump-starting your creative processes around the art of cartooning, look no further than this wonderful little volume by Ivan Brunetti which guides the would-be cartoonist directly to the 'heart' of a good cartoon in a few well chosen and effective exercises. If you're looking for a detailed manual on technique, penmanship or colouring, please look somewhere else. But, if you need a complete makeover on the very spirit of cartooning then this book is absolutely ESSENTIAL.

    I am working my way through the lessons in this book. The emphasis is on developing your own visual and manual fluency, where other books start with heads and eyes and expressions. The result, then, is much richer than the "anybody can cartoon" genre, which teaches the tired old conventions. I think I would not recommend this book to pure beginners -- better for students who need to take a fresh approach with their intermediate or advance beginner skills.

    Things look bigger and you assume they are thicker when you see them on the internet. But this little book packs a lot of good ideas into few pages. I only hold back one star because I am a tough grader and would have liked more. Especially more cartoons and images, though the ones included are very rewarding. I agree with Brunetti's concept of what a cartoon is and am right on board with the creative process he coaches you to try to go for, including spontaneity and making use of happy accidents. His writing is at a level that makes this fun to read. Again, I only wish there was more of it here. I especially got a laugh out of his take on political cartoons, which I disagree with but the way he wrote it had me laughing out loud.

    This is a well written and useful book by a brilliant but humble individual. Brunetti doesn't yammer on or show off without instructing. He gets right down to business and offers helpful insights and a series of carefully devised consecutive exercises. A great investment packed with practical info for its small size for any artist or cartoonist.

    A bit over-priced. The printed price on the book was $13. Amazon advertised it as a list price of $15 with that price being discounted to $13 something. Book is thin and the print is very small. The content is a bit dry considering the subject matter. I would have liked to have seen more drawing examples.

    This is a clear, concise, & accessible book for all interested in cartooning. Brunetti provides instructions and a coursework style presentation which allows the reader to develop their own style of artistry. Very enjoyable.

    Perfect book on teaching how to cartoon for beginners in a practical way :) No overbearing instructions, but it does not gloss over what you need to know, which is just how to keep thinking how to cartoon.

    This book focuses on developing your own style. But, in spite of this, author's tone is wary of incorporating technology, making this book an antique.
